If you zoomed in on last night’s camp spot of The Arctic Cowboys, they called it Monument Valley Camp, inspired by the iconic Monument Valley in Arizona, a region of the Colorado Plateau scattered with sandstone buttes, according to Wikipedia. Tonight’s camp is named Sentry Camp, resembling sentries standing guard with its large outcroppings.

Today, they paddled an impressive 30 miles through serene, glass-like conditions until they encountered an unexpected obstacle – ice! A mile-long, 3-mile-wide, formation of shifting ice from Somerset Island into Prince Regent Inlet posed a challenge. As luck would have it, the ice flow they need to paddle around is the ONLY ice in their way today.  Hopefully, it won’t impede their progress too much.

Despite the ice encounter, the team is in good spirits and enjoying the paddling conditions. As they gear up for crossing Prince Regent Inlet, they remain flexible, adapting their plans according to the ice movement.
