Arctic Adventure: Hunters, Snacks, and a Weather Window

The team has been making daily strides, not on the icy tundra, but on walks that lead them to intriguing discoveries. One common sight that has caught our attention is the fresh ATV tracks left behind by hunters. It’s a reminder that we share this vast wilderness with other explorers.

Our sources have relayed that there are hunters both to the east and west of our team, yet as of now, we’ve had no direct encounters. Speaking of the west, West has been eyeing the snacks stocked in the cabin. However, in the spirit of respect for the land and its inhabitants, they’re patiently awaiting permission from the cabin owners before indulging.

Each day, our conversations invariably revolve around a single question: “Have you heard back from our hosts yet?” We’re eagerly awaiting word from them before partaking in the goods.

The good news on the horizon is that it appears we’ll be able to resume our kayaking journey early Sunday. A favorable weather window is opening up, offering us the opportunity to paddle onward. This development brings us one step closer to reaching mainland Canada, where our path toward the finish awaits.

We are happy to report the Arctic Cowboys Book Club is alive and well throughout the expedition.  The team has taken the time to relax and get in some reading while they are waiting out the weather.  Let’s see what is on their reading list:

Jeff is doing a lot of business configuration and is working on the expedition theme song – be sure to tune in when it hits the airwaves!

West is well into Ann Patchett’s novel “Tom Lake” and now wants to move to a cherry farm in Michigan.

Mark is reading “The Reluctant Republic” about when Great Britain was momentarily a Republic instead of a monarchy.

Eileen is reading “Demon Copperfield” by Barbara Kingsolver.
